Get to know the Friars and the roles they play in the Institute and in the Parishes.
Ordinary Life
The Friars of Emmaus must do everything in a spirit of community, and do nothing that makes them individualistic and selfish. On the contrary, they should always be for others and with others. Whether in apostolic work, in the maintenance of the community, or even in prayer, when alone, they should be united with their brothers and interceding for them.
The Prayer
Common prayer is the foundation of community life. Prayer should always be a response to the Lord's warning: "Watch and pray" (Luke 21:36). Prayer is the time to be with the Lord. Therefore, we are convinced that it is from the Liturgy, the sacraments, and especially the Eucharist, celebrated and adored, that the communion of hearts is built.
We must live the Liturgical Prayer fervently, fully participating in the Eucharistic Celebration and approaching the other sacraments with love and faith, especially the Sacrament of Reconciliation.
The Friars of Emmaus should use the Liturgy of the Hours in communion with the Church (cf. RegNB 22,23) to proclaim the praises of the Lord and bring all men and women into His Presence. Therefore, the Liturgy should always be celebrated with care, whether it is ordinary, festive, or solemn, using in the celebrations all the elements that make it an expression of praise to God, the Supreme Good.
The work
The Lord tells us: “For you will eat the fruit of your labor; blessings and prosperity will be yours” (Psalm 129:2), and also: “If anyone is not willing to work, let him not eat” (2 Thessalonians 3:10). Therefore, let us always work with joy, remaining in the office and position to which we have been called. May the work entrusted to us be a testimony of our surrender to the Lord, who works with the Father until now.
The Votes
Para vivermos nossa consagração a Jesus, Divino Mestre, que se fez Casto, Pobre e Obediente, abraçaremos com o coração indiviso, desprendido dos bens matérias e voltados para a vontade de Deus, os Conselhos Evangélicos de Castidade, Pobreza e Obediência.
A prática dos Conselhos Evangélicos nos ajudará a vencer os obstáculos à vontade do Senhor e permitirá vivermos intensamente o amor a Deus e ao próximo consumando nossa consagração.

Castidade
Pelo voto de castidade, manifestamos nosso amor indiviso a Cristo e nos dedicamos totalmente ao serviço de Deus e de todos os homens e mulheres, imitando assim, nosso Divino Mestre, por causa do Reino dos Céus (cf. Mt 19,12).
Por este voto, livre e consciente, abrimo-nos mais inteiramente ao próximo e testemunhamos no nosso modo de vida o amor existente entre Cristo e a Igreja.
Nossa castidade, vivida no celibato, será portanto uma resposta madura à Vocação Divina, fonte de fecundidade espiritual sendo um testemunho eficaz de nossa consagração e doação ao serviço de Deus no amor.

Pobreza
Por este segundo voto, desejamos viver como o Senhor Jesus Cristo, que “sendo rico se fez pobre” (cf. II Cor 8,9). Através dele, não só renunciamos ao desejo e à posse dos bens materiais, mas também nos abrimos a partilha dos bens espirituais, da vida, dos valores humanos existentes em cada membro da comunidade. Por este voto, fazemos também ecoar em nossa vida a opção preferencial pelos pobres feita para Igreja (cf. Puebla, nº 733735).
Seja vivida de tal forma nossa Pobreza, que se torne um sinal questionador, capaz de suscitar mudanças também na sociedade. Que nossa Pobreza professada revele a força transformadora das Bem-aventuranças.

Obediência
Nossa vida encontra pleno sentido e realização quando obedecemos à vontade de Deus. Por esta razão, em seguimento a Cristo Jesus, que “se fez obediente até a morte, e morte de cruz” (cf. Filip 2,8), submetemos nossa vontade, livremente, ao superior do Instituto que faz cumprir a vontade de Deus, quando lembra e ordena em conformidade com a Regra. Obediência, longe de menosprezar a dignidade da pessoa humana, a leva à maturidade, fazendo crescer a liberdade dos filhos de Deus (cf. PC 14).
Por nossa obediência à vontade de Deus e a este estilo de vida que abraçamos, busquemos a unidade sempre firme com o Sumo Pontífice e o bispo da Diocese onde vivermos, prestando-lhes nossa obediência.
