Young Emmaus Members: Contemplation and Mission
The Emmaus Youth are a youth group of lay people who are part of the Institute of the Friars of Emmaus, with Sister Elisângela Guedes as advisor and Gabriel Dourado currently as coordinator.
Guided by the charism of contemplation and mission, these young people recognize Jesus in the Holy Eucharist and dedicate themselves to bringing Him to more people, also witnessing the joy of being young in the pursuit of holiness.
The group members are actively involved in various areas of the parish, such as the liturgy ministry, altar servers, and the Emmaus Youth music group, which recently led the singing at the priestly and diaconal ordination of two friars from the Institute.
Throughout the year, they organize activities that strengthen fraternity and promote charity, such as the action carried out in conjunction with the Santa Dulce Community (of the São Sebastião Parish), in which they collected food and prepared soups to distribute to homeless people. In addition, they evangelize through Emaús Cast and the rosary broadcast live on Instagram.
But amidst so many missions, how do they experience contemplation?
In addition to their personal and daily prayers, young people participate in Vespers on Sundays, led by the friars together with the laity, and in the monthly Eucharistic vigils in our parish, always seeking a life of greater intimacy with God.
They also participate in diocesan events, such as the Youth Vigil (held in communion with WYD), the National Youth Day (DNJ), and the traditional games at the São João Paulo VI Seminary.
The youth of Emutana are a beautiful example of young people who wish to dedicate their lives, more and more, to Christ Jesus and Our Lady.
